Mission of the Natural French Natural Perfumery Academy
|
Our mission is to identify, safeguard, and transmit the world’s perfume heritage, embracing the living ecosystem that sustains it— from seeds, flowers, plants, and pollinators to essential oils, perfumes, and the people whose knowledge and livelihoods depend on them.
We are committed to educating perfumers and educators across the entire value-added supply chain, ensuring that knowledge is not only preserved, but transmitted with rigor, ethics, and depth. We strive to raise the academic and professional standards of the global perfume industry, fostering an environment of excellence, credibility, and long-term vision. Through our values, we aim to pass on the heritage of French perfumery, upholding the level of quality, precision, and cultural responsibility required to teach and practice natural perfumery at the highest level. Goals of the Natural Perfumery Teacher's AcademyTo Develop and Promote the Rigorous Teaching of Natural Perfumery
To restore and promote the proper teaching of traditional, botanically based perfumery—an art and discipline practiced for over 5,000 years and fundamentally distinct from industrial “modern perfumery,” which emerged in the early 20th century with the introduction of synthetic molecules. Natural perfumery recognizes the perfumer not merely as a technician, but as a custodian of botanical knowledge, sensory expertise, and cultural heritage. To Advance the Education of Natural Perfumery Teachers To expand and deepen the education of natural perfumery instructors by reinforcing the central role of the olfactory sense, alongside advanced knowledge of botanicals and their applications in natural perfume creation. Many IPF Certified Natural Perfumers possess strong foundations in aromatherapy, plant cultivation, and distillation—core competencies of traditional and ancestral perfumery that must be reintroduced as essential pillars in all natural perfumery curricula. To Expand Access to Certified Natural Perfumery Education Worldwide To increase the number of IPF Certified Natural Perfumery Schools globally, enabling more perfumers to become IPF Certified Natural Perfumers. As natural perfumery is an integral part of our cultural heritage, it must be protected, transmitted, and made accessible, while also responding to the growing global demand for natural, ethical, and sustainable products within the emerging New Economy. To Protect and Inform Consumers To ensure that consumers are fully informed about the value, authenticity, integrity, and origin of the perfumes they purchase, fostering transparency, trust, and informed choice in the fragrance marketplace. To Educate Perfumers and Brands in the Marketplace To support perfumers and fragrance brands through education, guidance, and standards that encourage ethical practices, cultural responsibility, and excellence in the creation, presentation, and distribution of natural perfumes. Discovering
Awareness is the most important thing in the process of change. Without proper education, changes cannot be made properly. We need to be aware of the problems in order to solve them. Discover and understand the wellness and sustainability issues of our industry and the true meaning of the soul of flowers and the beneficial power of nature.

Preserving
Education is the best tool to protect and conserve ancient savoir-faire and old techniques. Teaching world perfume heritage is not just the history of famous brands. It includes the teaching of Natural Perfumery, the therapeutic power of flowers and plants in human history worldwide and the proper use of ancient techniques such as: enfleurage, maceration or distillation.

Teaching
Our goal is to empower a new generation of perfumers and perfumery teachers who care about the Earth, their families' and friends' wellbeing. Sharing their knowledge, their expertise and their techniques allows us to sustainably grow, properly process flowers and plants for the future, while promoting the return of bees and other pollinators.
