Ever since it was created in 1995, the International Perfume Foundation has been resolutely committed to the protection of the heritage of natural perfumery.
All perfumes used to be made from flowers and plants.
They were "the soul of flowers" offered first as precious gifts to the gods but became accessories of fashion and finally
mass-market products made from synthetics.
Perfume used to be an art form based on agriculture, contributing to an eco-system, and facilitating the work of bees and other pollinators. Today, this important historic and knowledge is threatened, and should be protected through education.
This is why the International Perfume Foundation created the IPF Natural Perfumery Academy.
We are all fortunate to be part of the community of flowers, plants, natural essences of flowers and plants and the people who depend on these natural treasures. In all their forms, whether in gardens, homes or in natural perfumes, these incredible products allow us to reconnect with nature and provide us with many, many benefits to our health, happiness and productivity.
It is so important to respect the New Luxury Code and continually raise the level of professionalism within the value-added distribution chain community through education. This is why one of the primary goals of the IPF Natural Perfumery Academy is to provide meaningful and valuable information in natural and sustainable perfumery for everyone’s benefit.

The New Luxury Code is a code of respect and a basic moral knowledge that has existed from the beginning of time. It has been forgotten, but should be revived and protected as a guide for our communities.
Adapted to each sector of activity, The New Luxury Code allows companies to create products with respect for everything from the start of production to the end use by consumers providing them authentic value.

The IPF Natural Perfumery Academy's Members discharge their missions and the Academy's foundations worldwide, in standing committees and working parties set up by the Academy. Academicians are chosen carefully for their extensive scientific knowledge and their passion to teach this precious heritage in many languages, to each part of the world.
